A Brief History of The College

The National Yunlin University of Science and Technology (NYUST) was established on August 1, 1991, with an educational mission emphasizing equal importance on science and technology, as well as humanities, integrating theory with practice. It is responsible for the curriculum design and planning of humanities and basic science education throughout the school. In order to facilitate the planning and implementation of various teaching courses and laboratories, a liberal art building and a science building were constructed.

After officially attaining university status on August 1st, 1997, our school established the College of Humanities and Applied Sciences, which further implements the educational philosophy of emphasizing both technology and humanities. The college currently comprises seven academic units, including the Department of Applied Foreign Languages, the Department of Cultural Heritage Conservation, the Graduate School of Technological and Vocational Education, the Graduate School of Applied Chinese Studies, the Graduate School of Leisure and Exercise Studies, the Graduate School of Science and Technology Law, and the Graduate School of Materials Science. Additionally, there are one research and collaborative unit: the Teacher Education Center.

In addition to providing specialized education and research in various departments and centers, our college is also responsible for planning and implementing education in the humanities, mathematics, and physical education for the entire school. We cultivate teaching staff in vocational schools, specializing in industrial, commercial, and design-related fields, as well as provide professional training for individuals in the industrial sector. Furthermore, we offer expertise to engage in outreach education and collaborate with industry partners.
